The truth is when the Religious texts were written humanity was still by and large connected to earth and had far more natural lives than we do now. Communities were connected, and actually the work life balance was ideal for the majority of people.
Modern society for many people is essentially a modern system of slavery just with the illusion of freedom. And for many is probably more anxiety inducing given that there is no certain level of certainty regarding the future.
If someone such as Epictetus said that suicide is permissible when life becomes like a hot room with only one means of escape, then surely the current situation many of us find ourselves in meets the criteria.
NEETMaxxing is also one way to turbo destroy your life and is as unnatural as wageslaving so I don't see that as a viable option.
At a certain point I think about what characters would do in my unique situation, a James Bond, Legolas, Spartan etc
I think most of them would rather not live a life without honour and instead jump
There is something romantic in using your agency to make the ultimate decision.
If you haven't worked on your mental health then by all means do but if you're in a situation where there seems to be no way out of it then, unless you find a good cope, it might be better to accept fate.
