I recently got the tortoise green rubber bands and there pretty tight. Would they recess me? I’m thinking about just taking them off bc I don’t wanna be recessed but lmk what yall think.

How it is recessing my maxilla if it’s pulling my lower jaw forward?
Every force has an equal opposite reaction. The elastic hooks from your upper teeth to your lower jaw, so while it pulls your mandible forward it's pulling your maxilla backward with the same force. You're not getting free lower jaw advancement, you're paying for it with upper jaw recession. That's why braces can't truly advance both, they just redistribute where the recession goes.

they are usually just to move the back teeth forward to correct alignment, if ur a kid/teen they will help guide jaw development. this means it could bring ur upper jaw back or the lower jaw forward, from the photo it looks like its bringing it forward, what is ur bite looking like

Class II elastics pull your lower jaw forward by pulling your upper teeth back. You're not getting dual advancement from braces, it's always a trade off, they recess one to fix the other. If you're worried about maxillary recession from the elastics you're right to be, that's literally what they do. Talk to your ortho about whether MSE or surgical advancement is an option instead of just compensating with elastics. Braces alone can't advance both jaws.

its a trade off ur not getting ur bottom jaw moved forward then, talk to ur orthodontist about a different treatment method
I tried talking to them about a MSE but they said nah, I even made up that I had breathing problems and all this stuff, I also went to 3 different orthodontists about it

Yea, I don’t really know what to do, also do you think if I just didn’t use rubber bands it could cause recession or something’s wrong in my jaw anyway? Bc it was only on one side of my mouth

does ur jaw look fine position wise?

Stop the braces stop the rubberband you either accept that you need to wait for a surgery or different ortho or accept that you will bite well but get recessed in one way.

I’ve had braces for 3 years and they said I only have one month left so I should just probably wait for that month and maybe when I move out and have a enough money I could keep trying for a MSE

That's the realistic and smart thing to do in my eyes just wait out the month don't stress and dont make any more bad decisions like it.
