Rule of thirds, how legit?

Hi,
The rule of thirds seems legit

But I see many good looking men usually have longer lower third or shorter midface

The maxillo surgeon told me I have a long midface but I couldn't see from my calculations.

It seems that except for the trichion (because of the balding) I fit the ratios well, thus I am worred about any surgery that could alter subnasal or menton.

What's your take on the rule of thirds and my situation?
