Tactically it wouldn't make sense. China has nothing to gain in helping Russia overtake Ukraine. China would only anger the west more (their biggest trade partner) and they would become isolated together with Russia; a country which is economically dead for the foreseeable future.

True tbh. I have expected Russia to invade the rest of Ukraine ever since they took Crimea and I always thought they would be controlling the country within less than a month with little negative affects on Russia. But it turns out I was wrong. They appear to be struggling.

True tbh. I have expected Russia to invade the rest of Ukraine ever since they took Crimea and I always thought they would be controlling the country within less than a month with little negative affects on Russia. But it turns out I was wrong. They appear to be struggling.

Apparently Moscow can only finance the war for a couple more weeks. If they haven't taken Kiev by then they will have to retreat. If true it makes sense why they are asking China for help asap right now. Even if they take Ukraine they will never have the resources/troops to let it stay in Russian control for the years to come.
