That village area which you are speaking off is the highest defended place in Ukraine, its similar to Germany attacking the Maginot Line if they for some reason didnt attack Belgium. The area around bakhmut is also the one ofnthe highest points in the country, ideal for artillery. You think Russians are just critically attacking it this badly for nothing or that Ukrainians are rushing it tens of thousands to defend it, why would they go into a meat grinder for a village instead of using most of their army to try and take back the south and Crimea, because Donbas is crucial, beyond it the land is flat af and not defensible.

Defending Kherson is literally impossible for long term, logistically a nightmare. Why is Ukraine losing territory for the past 2 months, they did well in autumn, what could it be? Clearly the mobilized russian army has worked very well.

Thing is, Russia cant lose the war cause its impossible for them to admit defeat, by losing i mean if Ukraine somehow theoretically manages to conquer back all of the territory, Russia would never allow it to happen, using tactical nukes would be on the table, they have invested everything into this, there is simply no going back now

1: Ukraine has received literally $150 billion in aid and military equipment ( top quality) already. It makes Ukraine literally 3rd largest military on earth by budget already, they literally have more budget than Russia !!
2: 24/7 top class NATO and USA intelligence, CIA and pentagon literally providing 24/7 information to Ukraine, this is how Ukraine targetted mosva.
3: Russia is already sanctioned to max, still they have a good economy and they holding strong.
4: Russia still controls 70% of territory, that means Ukraine with all help on earth still so far only liberated 30%.
5: Israel, Netanyahu new pm now have offered all out support to Russia ( this is huge ), Saudi Arabia is now becoming the Russian ally, including most of middle East.
6: india and china were fully supporting Russia anyway.
7: west is not United, European countries are slowly backing off and now becoming neutral.
8: most Americans do not really support Ukraine, if Trump and republicans get back in power, Putin will win easily as all aid will stop.

Again Russia can't admit such defeat, they will do anything they can to win, they have to, they don't have an option, it would end Russia if they lose militarily. it's not so much russia will win, but ukraine has already lost. what exatly do they gain from this conflict? absolutely nothing, and everyday more of their people die. if russia wanted to, they could just shell and carpet bomb the cities daily. they have a huge reserve of resources. the west barely has enough oil to keep their war machines running. i think out of desperation ukraine will miscalculate and do something that triggers russia into total war, and then they're screwed.
