People over-exaggerate how hard the grammar is, specifically the case system. Yeah at first it looks overwhelming with the 6 cases that have different endings for each gender and some irregular words, but once you understand the functions of all of them and their endings it's very easy to understand. It only took me 2 weeks to remember all of them. For me, the hard part is listening to the language. Natives like to speak as fast as possible and soften all the words so it sounds like literal mulch being spoken out loud, it all blends together.

Russian especially though, a lot of the words are palletized and the endings are always softened. for example, if a word ends in D, it becomes -> T, or V, it becomes -> F
