It's like the "January 6 Attack" in the US, which was super fake and gay, created in order to tighten control and surveillance over of domestic dissent. This is the main motive for what's going on in Russia as well. Putin has obviously allowed and instructed to Prigozhin keep up his controlled opposition schtick this whole time in order to create the impression that political dissent would be acceptable in Russia. If he were really a threat he would've been taken down long ago. Weak to whom? If his enemies, well that's good, if he isn't in fact weak. "Pretend to be weak when you're strong" etc. Weak to his subjects? Maybe to some, but so what? But with others, I would imagine the majority of Russians, the event will rather further trigger their defence mechanism and make them want to side with the government even more – as far as I know the majority of Russia does believe in the government's cause. But like I said, even if it may make Putin look weak for a moment, in reality he probably isn't weak, but is in control of the whole operation. This will give him the chance to enact further martial law measures and tighten his control of the country by raising the stakes even further.

9/11 was an inside/Mossad operation. Did it make the US look vulnerable? Sure, to an extent, but ultimately it just gave a pretext for the US to attack the Middle East.
