if you get above 14-15% bf, do a little cut for a few weeks until you get back to 12%

i bulked up for about 14 weeks gaining about a pound per week, but i am a manlet and feel like that might have been too much weight too quickly
if you are tall and already skinny 500+ calories surplus should work great, you can get away with a bit more if you are a novice
