The Taliban released the following statement regarding Salafiyyah in Afghanistan. Here are some of the points translated:

In order to preserve the unity of word and national cohesion in Afghanistan, the Salafis must observe the following matters:

It is not for the Salafis to call people to non-sectarianism and Salafiyyah, neither in mosques, nor in educational institutions, or in modern schools, or in universities, or in hospitals, or in markets and shops, nor in public places.

The Salafis also take advantage of the teaching of the Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah to spread their call. They do not have the right to teach these two subjects in the places mentioned above, through rhetoric or through Imams in public mosques.

The Afghan people are committed to the Hanafi school, every citizen must respect this doctrine. Whoever tries to split the Afghan people through sectarian division will be pursued as a legal criminal.

It is obligatory to refrain from venerating graves illegally, anyone who tries to benefit financially from shrines and, or exaggerating the Mawlid, or prostrates to the graves, or allows women to go to shrines and cemeteries adorned, must abstain from all the above.

salafis are people who follow the first three generations only, because of a hadith. they consider many things that otherwise islamic people do as heresy because the first three generations never did those things.

hanafis follow the 8th century sunni scholar abu hanifa whose rulings form their beliefs.

in the end both are sunnis but the first group is a lot more strict and against many islamic traditions which has made them unpopular with the majority of islamic people

i follow hanafi school as well and im not a fan of salafis at all, i never associate myself with them
