Saw ukrainian refugee woman begging on the subway with her kids

Usually the only women you see on the streets with kids begging in NYC are Central American illegal immigrants who hopped the border.

How tf does someone from Ukraine end up here as a beggar? They’d have to fly no?

Also unironically the first time I’ve seen a white woman begging who wasn’t alcoholic/junkie/mentally ill (outside of Slavic countries at least).
