Ive been considering buying a Schwartz active plate for my upper palate since it seems to be my cheapest option right now. But if that's even the right option for facial changes, I don't even know.

How quickly to expand will be entirely up to me since im just ordering one and having it custom made with very little more instruction

Forgive my lack of education on this subject, but help would be appreciated.

I suppose my main question is... should I even use this kind of expander for this reason in the first place?

it depends on your age but I assume you are at least in your late teens

I wouldn't bother with it, there is a risk you might fuck up your teeth and at best create an "artificial" expansion that didnt result in any skeletal changes but just pushed the teeth

Yes i'm still young. I'm willing to give it a chance, if i dont get any facial width and just fucked up teeth, i'd be alright since I gave it a try.

Ive been considering it since 14, now i'm 16, just haven't found a way to be able to afford it till now. It may already be too late, id say it most likely is... and if its not too late, then time is certainly ticking. But i'm willing to try anything, even if the outcome may be quite negative.

More like Schfarts active cope supplier.

jk boyo palatal expasion is legit af but you gotta mew after or it'll all relapse

It will mainly move teeth and alveolar bone. This will be a problem when you do a skeletal treatment in the future.

it’s better to do nothing then.

I likely wont need any skeletal treatment in the future, so in that case is it worth at least trying?
I'm expecting the worst, therefore I wont be disappointed with the results.

I think it’s better if you ask your dentist first.

but that appliance won’t give you any facial effects at all.

ah, well damn.

Is there any removable expander that can work?
Or do only fixed expanders cause facial changes?

In adults only MARPE appliances, and especially MSE. But these facial changes are quite little. And none of these appliances will reduce vertical excess.

At 16 only adult treatments would work for this i suppose?
Well thanks for the help, guess I should invest in those peptides I suppose since the palate expander wont work.

Well I don’t want to talk about something I don’t know but I’ve never heard of any peptides supplements increasing facial width.

16 is a great age for MSE

Oh sorry for wording it improperly, I was hoping the expander would give facial width but since it wont
I will invest my money into peptides in hope of gaining a few cm in height instead of a palate expander for facial width

Would it be a problem for bimax ?
@Sergio-OMS

My ortho is having me do MSE with a lower hyrax expander at the same time... and then Invisalign ... is this safe/ best route for me for aesthetics and my over bite? I am 19

Sorry, I don't know. Too general question and lack of info. I can tell you that If the overbite and overjet aren't large it will work safely.

Yes. An issue we find when planning for orthognathic surgery is the need to undo previous orthodontic treatments that attempted to camouflage the problem (or that attempted to do skeletal treatment but failed).

Except for maxillary expansion and maxillary protraction done at young ages other treatments fail to produce a real bone growth, especially in the mandible.
