Naturally it's the female that selects the males to mate with. They choose the alphas (the good looking guys in this modern day & age).
On the other hand, the unnatural way of selection e.i. a male selecting a female has huge dramatic consequences on the males lives.
When the female does the selection it doesn't cost the male anything. She chooses him for himself (body). Then she gives him all her goodies for free. Why? because this is the natural way of things to go.
On the other hand, if a male chooses a female (which doesn't like him of course, which is unnatural selection), oh lord, it's gonna cost him a lot. I mean a looot of sacrifices one after the other, he's gonna pay the bill, in full. He'll need to have a very expensive car, very expensive house, a fat bank account, probably a high status, and the list goes on and on and on ...
To have all the stuff above, you'll really have a rough life. Your going to spend the best of your years (20s and 30s) working like a maniac, no time to take care of your physical or mental health. And of course I assumed that you have enough IQ and luck to make all that money.
This is the price you pay if you go against nature. And this is why being born good looking is the best of the best.
Conclusion: Get selected you pay nothing. Select and you pay more than everything.
