When incels do it, there is no comedic value in it.
It just becomes a sad thing.
It works on a guy like Conan, because even tough he makes fun of himself/puts himself down, we still know that he is tall, rich and a Harvard graduate and he has a better life than most people.
So the humor in it is that despite all of those things he still admits to having major weaknesses in other areas of life, which makes him relatable. and likeable.
If an incel like Michael Cera tried the same thing (he actually tried it during the infamous Letterman interview), people wouldn't laugh at it, because it is just the truth.
Nothing is funny about him doing such a thing, because he is actually at the bottom of the dominance hierachy in life.
