change barbers.
If you have long hair, go to a women's hairstylist (I'm dead serious, they will cut much better than the barber that's used to doing fades all his life.)
Also always have a reference picture of what you exactly want, it's way easier than explaining.

Cutting your own hair will more than likely go wrong and you will look like an absolute retard for at least a couple weeks.

give them pictures and be low inhib and high T and give them instructions as you see them cut in the mirror, reprimand them harshly if they do something wrong like an abused dog

If you're just trimming it, then make sure to really comb your hair down well and go over it a few times.
If you're cutting longer parts with scissors, wet it first. Never use scissors on dry hair.

what length ?
If buzzcut, impossible to fuck up
If longer good luck, take it slow, you can always go shorter but you can't make it grow back if you fuck up

Medium length, like 2a-2b hair.
