This is something I wrestle with on a daily basis: why am I doing all this? what’s the end goal? What’s even the point?
Reaching a big achievement in your life is one of the most underwhelming feelings you could ever experience. This is why Tyler durden says “self improvement is masturbation”. Psychologists call the this hedonic treadmill - you can’t feel fulfilled from reaching an achievement because think about it; our ancestors would have just died off. Anytime they did anything great, they would’ve just stopped trying and then external threats would’ve just killed them off. That’s how human psyche has developed.
Stop chasing goals thinking that it’s gonna solve all your problems, you need to learn how to appreciate what you have right now, or you will never be fulfilled.
