I talked with this kid in 9th grade, and he can’t do long division. I was trying to explain it in different ways, but he couldn’t do it. :fuk:

Dang wtf are they teaching on america dawg bro:feelsuhh::feelsuhh:
No child left behind policy
He is an anomaly, though, I’ve never met someone that behind. He’s in Algebra 1 but can’t do long division.

I mean childs with some disabilities is understandable but still people on america should really think about their educational system

Assuming he isn't a massive retard (high chance) he probably just doesn't have the mental capacity to Understand long division. Did you show him visual examples or interactive exercises?

Yes, I tried one example with him. He said he understood and that the teacher confused him (not sure what teacher is going over long division in algebra, but ok), so I told him try a problem by himself. The kid started going from right to left instead of left to right. :feelswhy: I knew he didn’t remember anything from the first problem we did together, so I tried explaining why you need to go from left to right. I tried that block thing a lot of elementary school teachers use, drawing square around different powers of 10, but I don’t think it helped. It was lunch time and he said he was going to get lunch, so I just left him alone.

Well you showed him In a very understandable format the only factors that may be making him struggle is either he doesn't give a shit about this school stuff or he is genuinely a massive retard. Humans are very adaptable when they have an interest in something

I know, he said he had dyscalculia; I’m not sure if he was being serious or just saying he’s bad at math since he called it “dyslexia but with numbers.” I want to help him, but idk how.
