She’s laying on my chest again like nothing happened.
Same Hello Kitty onesie that doesn’t even fit right anymore.
Used to be baggy now it clings to her like it’s holding on harder than she ever did.
She’s scrolling on her phone like she’s got something better to do.
Half her hair’s blonde, half grown out, like she gave up halfway through trying.
She never finishes anything.
Never changes either.
But when she’s quiet like this, not talking, just resting on me like I’m some kind of safe place.
I don’t move.
Don’t say anything.
Just stare at the ceiling like I’m not thinking about everything she ruined.
And still, somehow, I let her stay.
