To each their own. I thought it was absolute drivel, I don't think hyper-realistic scenarios should happen in exaggerated/sci-fi films, whole point is to be amused and awestruck.
That wasn't even the problem to me. They just kept extending the fucking ending, the movie should've ended 20 minutes earlier. I also hate the trope of the old fbi woman who is suddenly an expert and knows everything that the killer will do, makes me cringe everytime.
Most endings to horror movies would be extremely sad if they were realistic.

Eh. Sci-fi movies should be able to do both, immersion in a movie is key in building tension and getting people intrigued. The more you relate to the characters, the bigger the losses feel.
Only redeemable factors to IT were its prior history in the horror scene and VFX. Otherwise both films were kind of gay.
I think it's such a great ending just because of how brutal it is. If he was only twenty seconds later, they would have survived. It's just so goddamn brutal and I loved it.
IT was shit, the book mogs (aside from the child orgy scene at the end). So much more detail into the characters and pennywise is far more terrifying. The new series looks promising.
