should braces on upper teeth only change facial features?

apparently my dentist wants to put braces for 1 year only on top teeth(no elastics) for a year
im 18, but im wondering will anything in my face change(like lips)?
should i opt for invisalign or spark braces?

Braces cannot change your facial features once puberty is over.
And most of the facial structures changes involved with braces are due to elastics, and you are not gonna wear any elastic so you have your answer.

would it affect my mewing/chewing gum?
also, will my lips change, as invisalign can have that effect(why wouldnt these type of braces have it also)
