Should I abandon my friend?

Personally I value loyalty, but taking my own life into account it might be for the best. He's one of the few edgy people I know irl so we can have a good laugh and say nigga and stuff which is all well and good. But he's also ND and has gave himself a bad reputation at our uni by posting dumb shit on his story. Honestly I want to improve my social life and I feel keeping him at arms length would help. He's also very negative and envious despite being high iq and tall himself. Thoughts?

I wouldnt cut him off immediately. Id probably keep some distance and set boundaries first. The main problem isnt that hes nd or has a bad reputation, its that hes constantly negative, jealous and might drag you into unnecessary drama.


You can still be friends with him privately without being involved in his posts or stupid decisions. If he keeps affecting your social life and refuses to change, then ending the friendship would make sense. But dropping him only because you think he makes you look less popular would be kinda shallow.

yeah then keeping some distance makes sense. constant whining and comparing himself to other guys can definitely affect your mindset over time. you dont have to completely abandon him, just stop making him your main social circle and spend more time around positive people. if he asks why, be honest without humiliating him.
