should i ask my dentist about a palate expander?

I should be going to get braces soon enough but i’m obviously gna have to have a consultation, i have a narrow palate, should i ask or just get one myself?

not ur dentist and i personally haven't asked mine yet even tho I'm like 9 months deep in with braces lol
I prob got a narrow palate but I'm gonna ask him in the last couple of months of my braces
