I have recessed jaw, recessed chin, generally bad side profile. Do you think a bimax + genio could realistically make me ascend more vs just growing a beard? Do I have sfs?

Getting a beard will make u a certified refugee subhuman, go on if you want to have that social status. Get genio only, it will ascend u more than bimax will.
Also no you don't have sfs, your midface is 0.95 maximum

Depends on chin length and other factors too, so not only midface ratio.
For example: O Pry has a 1.1 midface ratio but a long face, his IPD still makes it compact.

Generally I'd say something like 1.1+
Imo optimal midface length for men is 0.95-1.05
