So i’ve struggled with acne ever since i hit puberty (5+ years)
No amount of “normal skincare” has ever worked (cleansers, moisturizers, serums)
The only thing that’s ever kind of worked was when i almost didn’t eat for like a year in a row, but im obviously not doing that again.

I started skincare again about a month ago as im using minoxidil for brows and beard (CeRave SA smoothing cleanser, and The ordinary NMF + HA moisturizer every night)
This is the current state of my skin:
IMG 1732

I’m switching to CeRave foaming cleanser, as i think the Salicylic Acid every night might be what’s fucking up my skin barrier and breaking me out.

But i don’t think any of this is ever gonna work without an active anti-acne treatment.
Besides accutane which i don’t think my case is severe enough to start taking, my research concludes that adapalene would be the best option.

The adapalene i’m considering buying is this one:

If anyone has experience with this, or tips on what else i could do for my skin, i would really appreciate it:ogre:

Adapelene is pretty effective, I never used it one on one only with epiduo (Adapelene with benozyl peroxide) but it gave me positive results, tret was way better for me though and quicker in results. Mark as solution bhai:)
Never used adapalene but used tret works got rid of my acne decently quick which was worse than yours.

Yeah im definitely considering tret aswell, its between this or tret. It was a topical you used right, not pills?

no buy lionpair acne cream and apply it to the active pimples after a gentle cleanser and moisturizer

costs $10 max and stops any pimples i get from progressing if i apply as soon as i see them

or just use low dose accutane and forget skincare as your pores apparently arent clearing up either

Yes no pills, just aplly 2-3 times a week not 7 like dermatoligsts will say that will clear your acne but will also make you shed peices of your skin and be red like a tomato (personal experience)

Yeah but the problem is i don’t only want the pimples to go away, my entire face is filled with blackheads and things like that, so spot treatment isn’t really a option.

And i’d like to try something topical before starting an actual medication (which i don’t even know how to get in my country)

Get on tretinoin. You might purge but it's worth it IMO. If tretinoin doesn't workt then your last option is inevitably Isotretinoin.

Aight thanks, might just do tret instead, seems like that’s what works best judging from the posts so far.

I’ll give you your first solution bhai:owo:

Aight thanks bro. Might just to tret instead then.
Did it also remove blackheads and other imperfections other than pimples?

Tretinoin dosen't remove blackheads as effectively as accutane. Accutane is gonna be your best bet for life and you should REALLLYYY consider it. You can PM me for sourcing if you need or just use indiamart

Yeah i’m gonna do a lil further research, and then probably buy some tret instead if i can find it for cheap

If you have acne scars they will clear up the light ones the lighten up the deep ones but they wont if super deep will need laser co2 or maybe ghkcu but I've never tried either my scars 99% cleared. but i used to have terrible hyperpigmentation which went. Dont know about blackheads never had that problem. It also has anti aging but im pretty young and dont have wrinkles but if you have lines for whatever reason it should help

Yeah i know it’ll never be as good as accutane, but i’ll try something topical first, and then accutane as a last resort if it doesn’t work.
But thanks🙏🏼

Yeah i luckily don’t have any really bad acne scars so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Sound like imma need some tret instead of adapalene then, hoping for the same results as you🙏🏼

yo i forgot to ask, what percentage did yall use?
Start out with 0.025 at first then move up after a few months. Use sandwich method, moisturizer, tret, moisturizer although personally I use lotion first and then tretinoin since my skin has gotten used to it. Good luck:(ditto):

I don't think you should be using salicylic acid every night. sounds overkill asf. that's probably contributing to skin irritation, use it in moderation

Yeah that was my thought too, even though the cerave one is very mild (0,5%)

But that’s why i switched to their foaming cleanser, should be better for my skin.

I was honestly planning on twice per week to start. But i have hella sensitive skin so might have to start with one🤣
I mean you can start off twice a week if you use the sandwich method but you gotta apply less on some areas like the sides of the chin for me which are the most sensitive parts

i think adapalene for you is perfect. i am using it and its really good but not perfect. i only get occasional pimples, two per week or something. and you can pretty much use it forever with no downside. i would say it's cope if your skin was worse then i'd use Accutane. remember it takes about 1-2 months for it to actually take effect. use it every night and apply thin layer with a lightweight moisturizer, avoid eye area and lips. use gentle cleanser and avoid any actives. and DONT use any other retinol, retinal, retinoids at the same time. it will either do nothing or cause irritation

Yeah i’m also reconsidering the switch to tret rn, as i kinda forgot how sensitive my skin is, and im also using minoxidil everyday, so tret on top might probably completely evaporate my skin barrier.

I think i’ll start with adapalene twice per week, and build up from there. Might need to buy a gel based moisturizer too.

yeah bro, do twice a week for first week, then slowly build up to once per night. you will likely experience a lot of dry skin in the first month. so any gentle moisturizer is essential. also never forget spf50 pa++++ during the day
