I once gave him my car keys and he broke the front bumper and the radiator. It costed about 40 dollars to fix. He promised to pay me off but didn’t for 3 months.

I confronted him today and he got upset. I said “what would’ve happened if you broke something that costed 1000?” He said that he would’ve gotten a loan from the bank and payed me off.

I said that if he isn’t paying me for something that costs many times less, how can I believe him about something more expensive?

Is my question valid?

Generally speaking most of the time when you loan at some point they will stop paying you back. I have loaned and while the first few times they returned my investment back and a bit extra, they fucked me over after a few times. And then when you demand to get it back they act like your the bad guy.

Think of it as 40$ to get rid of someone who wasn't reliable in the first place.

The other side of the argument its just 40$. I gave a friend of mine 700$ for this business plan he had , and in the end it didn't work and I lost everything. I was pretty pissed but that is the nature of business investments.

I had previously loaned 500$ to him 2 other times and I got back like 650$. He also gave me 700$ once after I made him like 5k from a trading recommendation I had.

So technically we are even.
