pull ups only stimulate my forearms and my max is around 7 or 8 but cannot feel lats tbh.
 
how much you weight
 
You don't need to "feel lats."

I dont do pull ups only do pulldowns and my back is fine

Machines are fucking amazing for bodybuilding/aesthetics. They’re actually superior to freeweights in that regard.

Also use straps to remove forearm/grip fatigue so you can overload your lats more effectively
 
You should be doing weighted pull ups not bodyweight
