Should I even bother trying to get Jaw surgery in the UK or would it be wiser to go abroad? Is the NHS route a dead end or has anyone been successful?

I know you can get jaw surgery in the UK with a sleep study or for breathing issues, but has anyone here actually had success from this method?

It depends on what movements you need. If the functional movement required is also enough for the aesthetic result desired it’s OK. But if you need rotations, extra genioplasties, jaw widening, symmetry correction and so on it’s not good.

Basically only for “straight forward advancement” cases. Otherwise go abroad to have a say in the design.

Oh and when I enquired, the waiting list was 6 years.

I think my breathing is good, I’ve never had any issues with it. But since I haven’t known anything different maybe I am impeded idk. My mandible is fine from the front but it’s recessed.
