Got some pubertal growth left and here are my measurements
- Wits of -4mm
- Mandibular Plane Angle of 40

My current orthodontist wants me to extract 4 premolars and do camouflage

Should I get a maxillofacial surgeon's opinion?

idk he told me "extractions will make your profile better" but refused to provide a digital prediction, he's lying right?

ahh okay, i think u defitly should talk to a surgeon, how old are u btw?
15, family has history of late growth spurts and I asked the orthodontist about orthopedic correction, then he ranted for 15 minutes about how "orthotropics is disproven" even though i didnt ask about it smh

i dont think surgery is possible at 15, maybe get another opinion by different ortho or just by a surgeon, unfortunately all orthos think that their method is the only method

no of course surgery would relapse immediately, but what abt planned surgical approach once growth stops?

yea i definitly think u should get surgery fs, orthodontics will never fix a recessed chin or short mandible. But im sure in the meantime orthodoontics wont be bad ig, maybe just try to talk ur ortho out of teeth extraction or just go to different orthio. Im also hoping to get bimax in the future, im defintly gonna talk to differnt surgeons.

did your ortho immediately refer you to a surgeon or did you have to get multiple opinions?

btw the clinic i'm at has like 15 chairs and assistants do most of the work, like parked full 24/7. was the clinic you were at the same size/volume or more focused on specific cases?

na i just went to my old ortho since i had braces in the past and he didnt like really care, we talked quick, he looked intto my mouth, said everything looks good and we did xrays after i said that i have pain sometimes because my jaw is asymmetrical and locks up sometimes he said that a Oms needs to look at it, Made me think even more that orthos have just a horrible mindset when it comes to actually helpint someone and not just put braces into everyones mouth. I also asked if they could xray my breath canals but they jusst said thats not their area. The clinic is also relativly small and mostly for children so i didnt know what to expect, im just happy that i can get an appointment now with someone who hopefully understands their job

ohh ok. at my clinic i swear it's like a business for profit instead of orthodontics. the ortho doesn't respond to my e-mails directly but a "treatment manager" does and my parents asked for a referral 2 times already and they keep saying "let's have a meeting to show why extractions was chosen"

shitty, maybe consult Oms immediatly, i think they understand better. Orthos dont care at all aboout anything that isnt the fucking teeth and how straight they are.
