Depends on your situation

If youre good with your cat they’re extremely social + some cat breeds are more social then others

Ragdoll Is very social

I would stay away from all the small breeds like chihuahas and stuff like that and 1 breed I would especially stay away from since I'm guessing this is your first time owning a dog is belgian malinois, they have a shit ton of energy and not really begginer friendly in terms of training, great dogs but no

but breeds I would recommend are golden retriever, labrador and ESPECIALLY Rottweilers (best dogs you could ever wish for)
they will need some training (I mean all dogs need but ye), I would suggest also getting a training guide book or something like that but I cannot describe the joy of having a being who loves you more than its own life

I had 2 rottweilers quite some years ago but man those were the perfect example of man's best friend 10/10

Hmmm your convincing me to get a puppy now, my mom wants a golden retriever but a Rottweiler might like to go do outdoors stuff more like hunting or fishing

they are amazing for outdoor activities but I forgot the mention earlier that they are a people kind of dog
like they just want to be with you and the family at almost all times and even if they are quite big dogs it's like the forget that and act around you like how you would think small dogs should act

some people also say that depending on where you live they may or not be the kind of dog for you (depending on your yearly temperatures outside) since if they sleep outside in winter they freeze and in summer they overheat alot so if you can't keep them inside for stuff like sleeping and that maybe you should look into other breeds

but idk how exactly true or critical that is, mine slept outside some night and some nights inside so I can't really tell you exactly but just something to consider or research if you want
