for context I have a slight overjet which makes my upper lip protrude a lil bit and I'm wondering whether or not braces could help promote forward growth or cause recession

I'm considering getting Damon braces but they're a bit expensive and I've heard that traditional braces can sometimes lead to recession, Is there any other alternative?

traditional braces only cause recession if you extract your teeth to make space and use them while damon braces can help by creating more space but not by alot imo

Traditional braces can cause recession by retraction not just extractions

Most of the times orthos will just take out your premolars if there's crowding and they will get you braces which retracts by extracting and using braces.

:forcedsmile:Making your teeth straight with retraction doesnt recess you, it makes the bone better with time. If you have proclined teeth bone loss can occur with age and you will have many issues. Braces is good as long as you dont retract teeth or wear class 2 elastics, as elastics will pull the maxilla backwards, and if you youmg enough ans cam move back 2-3 mm which is the part bimax moves forward. And retraction just anterirly shortens the whole maxilla and causes boneloss in the alveolar region. But it can still be needed if you have proclined teeth
