Should I get heterochromia (different eye color) surgery?

My left eye got messed up in an accident a few years ago and I can barely see out of it except some blurry shapes. I've heard that eye color surgery can cause you to go blind in the long run, but I really don't have much to lose with my left eye. Is it worth getting eye surgery so my left eye is blue and my right eye is brown? Or is heterochromia overrated.
