I wish I had studied veterinary medicine from the start. With my degree, I can possibly get onto a degree-holders course and thus it will be 4 years instead of 5

Why veterinary medicine over medicine? I’m more interested in helping animals

I’ve already used up my student loan on my first degree though. I won’t get another loan, and thus will have to pay 9k a year upfront. Living expenses on top of that. University is free for everyone in Germany but I don’t speak German

At the moment I work as a security guard and have no career direction. Vets are in demand, paid well, and will grant you visas to most countries. But it’s also a huge investment of both time and money (paying for a course instead of earning money)

Aren’t you unemployed?

Yes, but my job was higher paid than the jobs you’ve worked despite me not having electrical specification and only basic engineering skills. Your degree is glorified scribbled on paper; a waste of money at best.

Marine biology is actually very useful if you want to become a professional Subnautica player.

I think you’ll find “a waste of money at best“ isn’t strictly true. Perhaps that’s the medium

And boy are you in for a surprise when you finally finish your degree at 28 years old and realise you can’t get a job. Perhaps then you’ll be wishing you studied medicine too. The only 2 engineeringcels I know are doing similar to me

I remember the trophy on Minecraft called “marine biologist” or something. I assume both the degree OP has and the trophy hold equal weight

I don’t think you quite understand how most degrees work. Most graduates do not go into the field in which they studied. They just use their degree as plenty of jobs require a generic degree. A science degree from a Russell group uni is far from the worst thing in the world. If I really wanted to I could even pursue postgraduate education

I’m well aware of that. My brother got a bachelor’s in chem eng from Cambridge and went to MIT for a year and he has gone into various fields, all related to tech in some regard but none specifically in engineering.

You aren’t going to hop around similar high-paying jobs with your degree, you can hop around Costa and Starbucks instead perhaps. You made the wrong choice, so be it

Keep the delusional faith
The fact you feel the need to attack someone else asking for advice suggests an issue on your end. Is that why you went MIA not long ago?

But anyway, take the medicine pill. It’s the only degree worth it

We gave you the right advice long ago and you didn’t take it, why should we bother now?

Loseer, shouldn't have listened to the school counselor.

@Gengar thoughts?

I think it’s a good move. There are tons of foids in their mid-30s trying to be less lonely by having dogs. In any major city, you can see the explosion of dog daycares, which shows there will definitely be demand for veterinarians to care for dogs. Especially for foids who make at least six figures. If they have the money, they’ll do anything to save their “precious dogs.

Foids would rather be lonely with a dog than settle for "less"...
