Should I make my own facemask or thumbpull with my MSE

Not sure how this works.
My MSE will expand 6mm and I am 16 so I was told a facemask won't work on my previous threads. Trying to do this for my recessed maxilla.

Some in my previous threads have recommended thumbpulling or making my own facemask device but I am totally unsure whether it's cope

DO NOT flame me as I did NOT read any studies and I am UNSURE of whether thumbpulling actually works or if this entire idea is dumb. Lmk
