Should I not do weight training and eat in a calorie surplus to maximize height

I’ve been seeing many people and videos saying I shouldn’t weight train and should eat in a calorie surplus to maximize my height hell even my father and grandparents told me this iam 16 atm do I have to live being chubby and fat my whole teenage life until iam an adult then leanmaxx to maximize height? Or is this bs
 
Take 2000mg of calcium per day along with vitamin D and vitamin K2.
