I don't game much these days but I know consoles have hidden fees. You need subscription for online play. A console cycle is ~7 years and a yearly subscription is $80 so you're spending ~$560 at the end of it unless you don't care about online play or cloud saves.

yeah exactly that's what my argument is against consoles. The games are expensive and so are the hidden stuff like you said but the console itself is much cheaper compared to pc. PC is more expensive but once you have one you can pirate all the games.
