Your age (16) is not inherently relevant with tretinoin, it’s more what your specific concerns are that determine whether or not it’s right for you.

Mainly smile lines and I have to hop on a strong retinol anyways cus of my hyperpigmentation How bad do you think 0.5 of taz would affect my healty face fat depositions
Are you taking this under the supervision of a Dermatologist or just doing this yourself? Have you considered isotretinoin? From my understanding, nasolabial folds (smile lines) are caused from an accumulation of fat at the bottom of the malar fat pad which leads to that creasing you’re looking at. So any retinoids’ effects on your issue might be negligible. Attaching a photo of them in different...

Tazarotene is definitely better but I’ve only used tretinoin

Wrinkles and collenge
Both essentially work the same, but I prefer Tazarotene. It’s more potent so it will deliver results faster and I read papers suggesting it was better for my needs (ie at reducing acne scarring).

I suggest you read this ^

It’s been great tbh, completely nuked my hyperpigmentation and made my collagen look a ton better. I haven’t been consistent with using it atm because my logic is if my diet is shit I don’t do any skincare until I get back into eating clean.

tbh tazarotene felt better for me,

i only have acne and acne scars and thats the only thing im trying to get rid of, my acne is still a thing, but its just bumps and no pimples, as for my scarring it nearly completely went away, currently im still using 0.1% tazarotene and 10% benzoyl peroxide

To be honest with you man I never took tret because I never needed it. I would rather you get the advice from someone who's taken it before at a young age. I don't read studies on it or anything because it never really applied to me.

Personally, I don’t love tretinoin, I think it’s very harsh on your skin and a mild dose of isotretinoin would yield more desirable results whilst being much more convenient. If I had to pick a retinoid, I would go with that.

Like others have said, if you had to pick between tazarotene and tretinoin for hyperpigmentation, go with tazarotene and taper your concentration/application frequency slowly as you use it for longer. Ideally starting at 0.025% every other evening, then adjusting from there.

I am only 181 cm Right now And my dad is 190 so I don't stagger my growth with isotretinoin (ik it only straggers height at high dosages but I don't want to take chances)

It's best to consult a dermatologist for a prescription rather than buying from unverified sources. Investing in professional advice will be more effective in your case.
