Posture and ribcage development are very underlooked aspects of skeletal frame.

The image on the left is rib flare. When the sternum isnt grown in the optimal position (somewhat foreward but not too much) the ribs will flare outwards. You can see this in even mild cases of pectus excavatum.

Most guys have a pretty even ratio but when your sternum is grown in the right direction it can allow your body posture to grow more upright+upward making it appear that you have a more tapered torso.
