I saw a thread earlier saying no young man should get implants but it didn't say why. Now I am curious since I want implants but am still relatively young. I would get them around the age of 21-22, however I feel like people go against this and do not recommend it. Why is that?

We don't fully know the long-lasting effects of leaving titanium or other materials on your bones. Your body rejects it at some point, as with most foreign objects surgically implanted into it. We already know bone resorption can happen, now wait 40+ years and see what happens.

Interesting. I would obviously use filler before implants to get some sort of visual of what it would look like, but I don't want to continue to get filler down the line due to migration and having to revisit to have it done. I feel like implants are the more permanent fix which I thought they were, but according to you, we don't even know. What would be the most ideal age to get implants.

The complications of facial implants aren't rare, 1 in 10 people who receive them encounter a complication: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40499276/

That said, there's not enough data to conclude the overall risk/complication chance. I don't think there's an exact age where it should be done, but it's safe to assume mid to late 20's would be ideal since there'd be limited craniofacial development to occur down the road. In any case it's better just renew filler or modify your existing attributes like with a genioplasty.

Interesting. The study states that there is a "relatively lower risk of complications associated with all facial implants", however that doesn't mean it is zero. And if i'm correct, you can always get them removed if complications arise. I am super new to this area, so I do not know anything really. I do feel that the ROI of implants are quite high though.

Depends on the material. Dr. Eppley claims his PEEK implants are top of the line and have never caused any complications in his patient, whereas other surgeons claim PEEK is just cheap plastic crap which is overpriced because of it's fancy name. Unless you're severely lacking in a certain area to the point that it ruins your entire face, the price and process is too much effort.
