Nose breathing is one of the fundamental ways of the body to produce nitric oxide.
Decreased nitric oxide implies decreased immunity, more probability of chronic inflammation[1] and worsened cognitive functions[2].
Mouth breathing equals, among the others, less nitric oxide[3].
I guess there's no further need to explain how mouth breathing fucks up literally anything in your body - starting with your beloved face.
If you snore, wake up in the middle of the night or have bad breath in the morning, you might be a nighttime mouth breather.
Given the circumstances of our modern world, there is more probability you are one than not.
And you definitely don't want to spend 7+ hours a day, one third of your life, doing what you've learned the hard way to avoid at any cost.
Get yourself some Micropore Surgical Tape or some specifically made mouth tape.
If you're too lazy to find any, grab some Scotch tape, but don't blame the consequences if you're acne prone.
Before you go to bed, tape your mouth. Side to side, no rocket science.
If you wake up and there is no tape, be sure the next time to place it better.
If you place it better and you still wake up with no tape, then oh boy, guess how much did you mouth breathe in the last few years, without even being able to know it.
There's no reason to stop mouth taping ever. As you do it every night, you might develop the habit of nose breathing while you sleep, but remember you might lose it as well.
Pro tip: you won't die because of some fucking tape on your mouth, even with a stuffy nose. Don't ask that, or you might make Charles Robert Darwin cringe for good.
You'd rather solve your undiagnosed Obstructive Sleep Apnea[4] and feel fully rested in the morning - for the first time in your life.
Download a good sleep app and always check the quality of your sleep. That's very important.
You'd be surprised by how many people have been going from snoring 2+ hours a night, some of them without even knowing it, to 0 fucking minutes - basically going cold turkey on one of the worst looksmaxing demons, with literally close to zero effort.
Get your well-earned sleep, once for all.
It might be your very first time.
