If you want a masculine non-pretty boy face clean shaven it seems side profile is necessary

But yeah side profile matters. A prominent side profile also most likely means your jaw is prominent and wide from the front. You can’t have a strong/wide jaw and a non-prominent side profile

Apparently people rarely see our face from the front dead straight. It's the side and 3/4th or some angle inbetween most of the time.

Whenever I go out with a girl I always make sure for her to only face me directly since my side looks bad compared to my front. When that's not possible I always keep her by my left since that's my "good" side

As @Preston said if you think about it most of the time you're walking or talking with someone they're rarely facing you straight so having a good profile is essential, particularly not having nose/gonial angle/fwhr/lfs failos which are more apparent when your face is turned
