They’re from Iceland but the singer doesn’t sing in Icelandic, he sings in his own made up language, like Cocteau Twins or Lovesliescrushing.

Oh that’s interesting. I know both Cocteau Twins and lovesliescrushing. The Weeknd is/was a big fan of Cocteau Twin’s 1990 LP.
