yeah but they both promote skin cell turnover so it should in theory help i’m unsure what it is praying it isn’t some uncurable bs

Could it be melasma? Is it textured?

Yes, that looks like KP. Both tretinoin and accutane can help.

Other products that work include lactic acid, BHA, AHA, and urea.

In theory, accutane should work better than anything else but you have to moisturize often or else it can get even worse.

Also, why are you on tret and accutane at the same time?

KP has no cure. It’s a genetic skin condition tied to how your hair follicles handle keratin.

You can make it disappear but it’ll return as soon as you stop, even if you use accutane.

Though people do tend to see an improvement in their 20s to 30s.

Yeah, I was thinking it does look like KP but the quality of the picture he took is so ass, I can’t figure it out
KP would be more red and textured, this nearly looks brown. It's fitting to melasma, unless OP says that it's textured like KP.

Yeah, that’s the issue. I can’t figure out if it’s red or brown, and I can’t see any texture. Idk lets just wait for him to respond lol

Looks like KP

Feel free to use any of the products I mentioned previously. Tretinoin works well in this case

It’s genetic. Since it never appeared before, it’s safe to assume something you’re doing is causing it to worsen or flare up.

@Mess does KP have any connection to androgens? He said it never appeared before he started PEDs

Could it be something else he’s using?

It's probably increased keratin 33B from testosterone. If it didn't occur before his baseline, he should be okay. Just starting rubbing lactic acid on the effected parts.

I suffered from keratosis pilaris rubra faciei (KPRF, to keep it short). I've been through hell and back to fix it. :Comfy:
The sad thing with KP (as a collective) is that it generally requires laser treatment, and even that treatment isn't permanent.

But, testosterone does have an impact on KRT33B through androgen signalling pathways. So it's pretty logical to assume that the increased testosterone caused this.

I’ve got to research this more. I also have KP, no clue what type though. I agree, it fucking sucks

Which laser treatments work for KP? I don’t mind doing it every few months or every year.

Apparently it just reduces inflammation and erythema. Is that sufficient to make the texture go away temporarily or is it just less visible because there’s less redness?

CO2 lasers are good for texture.

ok thanks for the advice and the help. Yeah i assumed something would of caused it to worsen but its not horrible its just noticable upfront but it looks like acne so it gives away my fake natty card a lil which sucks. Its not too horrible its calmed down alot with tret and accutane which ill continue in pair glycolic acid which im assuming does the same if not any product reccomendations to help.

I started the accutane this week, tret ive been using for the last 6 weeks mainly on my chest since i had a bad flare up. But now my skin is calming down alot and once the accutane starts working or showing sides ill stop tret but im gonna run a 6 month course with 20mg accutane to hopefully fix my skin up a bit and see if it helps with my kp

Gotcha, makes sense. Good luck! However, don't you think 20mg is a bit low for 6 months? I'm not sure what your weight is, but the cumulative dose from 6 months of 20mg might not be as effective as it could be with a slightly higher dose.

see how i respond to it, Im currently 85kg, im considering running 40mg but since im doing it without a derma id rather play it safe since this is purely on my own research, ill up the dose probably by week 3 if im seeing no benefits and no sides. But from what ive seen on the forums so far alot of people have had great results on 20mg and considering i have no face acne only chest acne caused by PEDS once i cycle off which will be within the next 10 weeks ish my skin will calm down alot mainly my chest. Right now its just about mitigating flare ups and not worsening my skin or causing perma damage while i bulk.

Tha most likely is keratosis two of my family members have it and I have it on my cheeks but with exfoliating 2-3 times a week it has gotten better and now it’s barely visible. I would also recommend not taking hot showers as it makes it worst

This is the best way to fix it, but I didn’t suggest it because idk if he’d want to be completely hairless lol

What’s wrong with the other suggestions I gave him?

Well, yeah it doesn’t look bad. You just need to be lean and you need to have a good physique, or else you just look gay
