What's the specific issue with your skin? What are you noticing?

Can you either send a picture here or DM it to me?

I have an idea of what the issue might be but I want to take a look

This is now

IMG 0581

And this is before when I thought it looked good

I’m also on 5% Minox and having to use my electric shaver a lot, could that be connected?

When'd you start the accutane and when'd you start the tazarotene?
I’ve been on accutane for ages now like 2-3yrs
And only just kinnda started taz, I started taz because of the amplified skin cell turnover over effects for accutane scaring, switched from 0.5% tret
And no, probably not related to minoxidil or shaving unless your skin only got worse around the area you shave
I am getting a lot of facial hair and shaving around my cheeks more now, which is my mine area of concern

40mg of accutane for the past 2-3 years or is the 40mg recent? Either way, I suggest dropping it to 5-10mg/day if you plan on using it indefinitely

40mg isotretinoin AND 1% tazarotene is crazy. My theory is that your barrier is just fucked AND your skin is dry right now

Also, your skin looks dry. Cicaplast isn't a moisturizer. It's mainly for barrier-repair, which is good, but I suggest also getting a moisturizer (the Cerave one works) and applying it before the cicaplast

Yeah, feel free to continue shaving that if you'd like, UNLESS your electric shaver feels too harsh and worsens your skin after shaving. You could also get LHR if you really want to get rid of them, but I'd suggest stopping any strong retinoids whenever you do it

Switch to 0.3% estriol. I really don't think you should be using estradiol

Drop the azelaic acid to 10% or 15% unless there's still too much left in the tube

Barrier is fucked from taz and accutane. I did the same thing but with 20mg accutane and 0.025 tret and my skin was hyper sensitive and I started peeling, do NOT use at the same time

The problem is that the skin can get hypersensitive

From my exp I didn't face any issues

But my buddy is white and his skin started peeling off

Why did you switch to 1% taz directly? Why is there no moisturiser in the routine when you are on isotret +taz?

Drop the isotret to 5mg . Add a moisturiser in the morning and replace the two time cicaplast balm with moisturiser first then .5 taz then balm. Your skin is likely irritated . Let it soothe a little.

Summary of what you should do:

- The estriol is fine, you can use it nightly
- Azelaic acid every morning, before the moisturizer
- Lower the isotretinoin dose to 10mg considering you've been on 40mg for 3 years, no need to take 40mg for any longer
- Either switch to a tretinoin concentration you tolerate or reduce the tazarotene frequency to 3x a week
- Get rid of cicaplast in the morning and get rid of the cicaplast before tazarotene at night. Cicaplast only at night after moisturizer
- Get a moisturizer and use it in the morning (before your SPF) and night (before your cicaplast)
- Stop cleansing in the morning, just use water

Your finished routine should look something like this:
AM

  1. Wash your face with water
  2. Azelaic acid every morning
  3. Cerave moisturizer
  4. SPF
PM
  1. Cerave cleanser
  2. Estriol nightly (wait for it to absorb)
  3. Tazarotene 2-3x a week (wait for it to absorb)
  4. Cerave moisturizer
  5. Cicaplast
Daily
10-20mg isotretinoin

- Yes it'll do

- No moisturizer in the morning to avoid overstripping your barrier. Cleanse at night when you've been awake all day, sweating, doing activities, etc.
