SLIDING GENIOPLASTY AT 16 (BEFORE AND AFTER PROFILE PICS)

Wow bro, looking amazing. How many mm did you get?

Im going to get the same procedure.
I was thinking on bimax but my x-ray analysis said that my maxilla and mandible are forward and already ccw so it wasn't advisable. But my chin is recessed af -4.59mm so im thinking getting 6mm genio.

how did you know you were a good genioplasty candidate,
what i mean is, howd you know there was no underlying skeletal malocclusion or any other issues? was there an x-ray during the consultation? did you see an ortho?
I saw an orthodontist who told me my occlusion was good

8mm is cool, that's the most optimal option I think, it all depends on your situation.

Hey guy, was planning to do regular updates after my surgery but got kinda lazy so here I am making a full breakdown now that the main swelling is gone.

Basically I'm 16 and I got an osseous sliding genioplasty back on February 6, 2026 at a private clinic. Ever since I was a kid I had a pretty recessed profile, trash cervical posture, and my face was asymmetrical as hell (zygo, mandible, and ramus were visibly less developed on one side, probably influenced by an old congenital ptosis I got surgically fixed a while ago).

The main goal of the genioplasty was obviously chin projection, fixing the lower third recession and giving that forward growth look. It was done intraorally (cut inside the mouth, plates + screws to fix the bone). No major complications.

Here are my pre-op photos :

RECOVERY & SIDE EFFECTS:

Day 1 to 7 :

Initial bloat was insane, lower face completely swollen. Liquid diet only, couldn't chew shit. Got hit with crazy nighttime acid reflux (stomach pain, nausea, hypersalivation) from the sudden diet shift, stress, and whey protein. Managed it with Esomeprazole and Gaviscon. Off painkillers almost instantly. Was lowkey paranoid the compression bandages were ruining the chin's roundness.

Day 7 to 14 :
Moved to soft foods (eggs, soft noodles, fish). Pure overthinking phase—constantly worrying about dissolvable stitches, mouthwashes, minor bleeding, and limited jaw opening. Took the wraps off around day 10-12. Bandages left a stubborn white glue residue in my beard, but soaking it in castor and olive oil stripped it right off.

Day 14 to 22 :
Projection looked elite at first, but then the edema migrated right under my chin/upper neck. Despite low body fat, it gave me a brutal temporary "double chin" illusion, nuked my hollow cheeks, and made my face look wide as fuck. The bloat fluctuated (insanely puffy in the morning, draining slowly during the day) with some slight asymmetry and a soft spot on my lower right lip. Posture relapsed hard too since I stopped neck training, making the submental bloat look worse. Restarted light chin tucks around day 21.

---

RESULTS (April / May 2026):

Here is how the profile is looking today:

The main surgical edema has completely melted away now and the submental area leaned out perfectly.

  • The chin projection is now perfect imo.
  • My side profile is infinitely more balanced.
  • I might have more forward growth from the mandible, we'll see over time.

I'm 17 now so I know I might get a bit more natural mandibular growth until I'm 19-20, but the ROI from this surgery is massive (Even though forward growth could be better). Right now I'm just focusing on locking in my neck posture (chin tucks / neck curls) to give the new bone structure the frame it deserves.

Drop any questions below if you want to know about the surgical process, post-op diet management, or with the swelling phases.
