First of all what even is SMART?
SMART is an iq training method that involves completing online, interactive blocks of relational reasoning exercises that teach you to fastly figure out connections and differences between 2 abstract manners. For example, excercises like, If A is the same as B, and B is the same as C, then what is A to C?
2. What is the evidence that this even works?
There has been multiple studies used on SMART. Here is one from psychology today. https://www.psychologytoday.com/ie/...w-evidence-iq-can-be-increased-brain-training
3. What is the science behind this ?
The human brain can automatically link separate facts together to invent new information. For example if you put stress on a muscle during weight lifting your muscle has to repair and grow slightly bigger and stronger. And if you put stress on your brain by doing SMART training your brain physically has to grow new neural pathways in order to adapt to the new Intelligence based challenge.
4. Why would it be more efficient than something like chess or a rubix cube?
In a nutshell: Chess and Rubix cubes and Sudoku, that kind of stuff makes you more efficient at just that task. SMART trains your full intelligence, It trains processing speed cause you have to rapidly figure the puzzle out, it trains thinking under mental fatigue cause well it's mentally fatiguing, and it trains direct problem solving by forcing you to track multiple Variables at once (A, B, and C).
5. How do I even execute this?
30 minutes of this 3 days a week. You will see an iq increase likely within 12 weeks if you are under 18.
If the accuracy drops, stop the session. Once you easily can complete the given difficulty of the puzzles add a new variable to make it harder. For example if you do questions like if A is the same as B, and B is the same as C, then what is A to C, And you can solve these with ease Add a new variable like opposites or comparison. You could also add another letter like D.
Please Rep this as it took me long to make.
