All of books are just water. If you want accurate objective scientific information, you can find it in 5 minutes on google & youtube.

If you're not looking for that, it's just a waste of time. There are dozens - hundreds of groups on Facebook & Reddit & weeb sites on the internet today about anything, with daily updates/new experiences related to that topic, compared to a book that may be out of date.

If you still want to find out what's in a particular book, you can read/hear/see a summary of the most important things in it on the internet, thus saving time and energy, and you can find out the information from several books in a shorter period of time.

you think like this because you don’t read books

summaries of books don’t contain the same info

to think that you can get the same info a book in an hour is insane

all the info online will only be in your and the internets echo chamber

you will not have the lines of thought to even think of the things you need to search and the info you search is usually grossly condensed politicized and has incentive for obfuscation

the way i think about this is reading through a book, reading the actual book and not the summary, puts you in the mindset of that book. if you're reading david goggins, you'll be more motivated to do what his books says when you're actually reading it.

First essay he distinguishes between slave morality and master morality. The master gets his values from within, while values from slave morality arises from resentment. Second essay he analyzes the concepts of guilt and bad conscience. In the third essay he critiques asceticism describing it as something life denying and suggesting it comes from resentment.

To read a book by a random subhuman and take their opinion as fundamental truth is the greatest possible echo chamber.

Better to see a summary of that book from several people to get as many perspectives as possible, so you can form as informed a personal opinion as possible.

OP, if you're still interested, DM me for a short list of books that are thought-provoking and could change the way you see things.

Treatise on human nature by Hume is very important if you wanna understand why people think in some ways or another.

Frege's book on Arithmetics also opened my eyes about how numbers can be as systems of language and not only truths.

Pinker has a book destroying the concept of Tabula Rasa from the modernity which people use to defend social constructivism.

Schopenhauer's World as Will and Representation is recommended too if you wanna understand what to live in the world means.
