Smartphones didn't ruin society, they merely exposed how superficial it always was.

A common narrative you'll hear is that nobody socializes anymore because phones have rendered everyone, and especially young people, too socially retarded to communicate. That before phones, there used to be thriving sub-cultures and social gatherings where people would actually meet, talk, make friends, etc.

But the thing is, those things were ALWAYS a superficial means to an end. Before social media, you simply had to do those things to get laid, find a gf, etc. There was no alternative. But now that you can obtain those things without having to go outside, most people don't bother. Why go through the hassle of pretending you're into some bullshit hobby so that you can get access to other people, when you can do this at home through your home or computer? There's no point.

This is all just part of the wider blackpill. Phones and social media changed nothing except that people now don't have to pretend.

Normies pretend of possessing hobbies.

They definitely ruined society! I mean, we used to talk to each other - face to face! Now, if you’re in a room with someone and they’re not looking at their phone, you start to worry. “Are they okay? Did they lose their phone? Are they sick?”
And what’s with the obsession over notifications? People hear a ding and suddenly they’re like Pavlov’s dogs. “Oh, a text! Must check immediately!” Meanwhile, the person right in front of them could be telling the greatest story ever, and all they hear is “blah blah blah, wait, I gotta see who just liked my photo.”
You ever try to have a conversation and someone’s phone lights up? Suddenly, they’re a ninja - “Sorry, I just have to check this.” And then ten minutes later, they’re still standing there, talking to a phone.
And don’t get me started on selfies. People are walking around, holding their phones out like they’re trying to capture the perfect mugshot. “Is this my good side? Wait, tilt your head... no, no, the other way... okay, maybe a little less squint.”
