Starting April 1, 2025, cigarette and tobacco prices in Austria will increase. It’s part of a government plan to raise money through higher taxes.

2/
💸 How much more will you pay?

  • Marlboro: +€0.30 → now €6.80
  • L&M: now €6.50
  • Chesterfield: now €6.20
  • HEETS (heated tobacco): +€0.50 → now €6.20

3/
🏛️ Why the increase?
The government wants to save over €6 billion in 2025, and higher tobacco taxes are part of that plan.

4/
📊 What’s taxed more?

  • Cigarettes are taxed at around 60% of the sale price.
  • Heated tobacco (like HEETS) was taxed less — just 17%, but that’s changing now.

5/
🔮 What’s next?
From 2026, Austria is planning a new nicotine & tobacco tax, which might also include vapes and nicotine pouches.

6/
🧠 Bottom line:
If you smoke or use tobacco products, get ready to pay more. The government is using tax changes to balance its budget.

meanwhile BE MB gold small 12 euros.

In my country the huge tobacco taxes, simply encouraged gangs to start smuggling cigarettes from nearby countries, it became a very lucrative crime with relatively small legal punishments, since it's not really hard drugs or anything like that...
