Smoking

I once had an interesting experience. I started smoking a cigarette and all of a sudden people were surprised I smoked (coworkers) because they said "I looked like an angel" , meaning I look like a "good boy". I remember feeling a little bit weirded out that they were surprised I smoked. I wear glasses so I thought that it had something to do with it, I'm also a bit introverted and not nt. I'm also an accountant (CPA).
I was wondering what they meant by that? Could it be that because I'm not a Chad, with a Chad jawline and hunter eyes that I just didn't fit the stereotype of the bad boy who smokes?

It was more along the lines of "you look like a Saint". I'm not American so "angel" in that context is equal to saint.
