I’ve always had the urge to give back whether it’s donating money, feeding the homeless or helping out orphaned kids. Growing up in a Christin household, charity was just part of my life My parents al2ays fid charity, every year we’d donate my old textbooks and clothes to orphanages and come Christmas we’d hand out food and gifts to the poor. It was never about showing off. We never even told anyone or bragged about donation it was just jow I was raised. My parents raised me to believe that money isn’t something to hoard but something to share

But now that I’ve grown up and want to donate myself I hate how greedy charities have become So many “charities” turn out to be straight up scams. Like the Wounded Warrior Project they were exposed in 2016 for spending donors' money on fancy parties and staff perks, and only about 30% actually went to veterans. Even worse Kids Wish Network raised over $100 million and barely used 3% for helping sick children the rest just vanished into the pockets of fundraising companies.

It’s evil how people good intentions are taken advantage of like that. Ive sropped doinf charity because of this. I don’t want my money going toward some CEO’s bonus. I want it to actually help a starvubf kid get a meal or pay for someone’s house..

You should like a good dude

And yeah charity’s nowadays are pretty fucking bad, from what I’ve seen so many of them barely even funnel 10% of donations into the actual cause

I guess the best way to go about it would be donating straight to the source and avoiding the middle man

The issue with directly giving money to homeless people especially in places like California is that a lot of them struggle with addiction. So instead of the money helping them it often just fuels their next high and drags them further into misery.

And in some third world countries, it's even more messed up. There are organized begging rings where kids are forced to beg, and whatever money they get is taken by someone else. The kids are left with barely anything, just enough to survive so they can keep begging the next day. That's why it's not always a good idea to hand out money directly cash can be easily misused or exploited. Better to give them food, clothes etc

It’s pretty fucked tbh
It’s very hard to show kindness nowadays without someone trying to take advantage of it

I don’t need to donate to charity.

I AM the poor and disadvantaged.

Another one I don’t do is anything to help the environment.

Billionaires children will inherit the earth. Let THEM pay for this mess. I have no skin in the game.

I live in a second world country in europe and things like this still happen

One example that comes to mind is a father making his son beg for money for YEARS in the same spot near a railway track. I used to pass him every day on my way to school a while back. Literally watched the kid grow up in the most miserable conditions, with ripped clothes and filth all over him, with the sun burning him all day.

Child protection services don’t seem to care or take any action, and this happens right near the capital of my country, not in a small rural part or anything like that.

I sometimes donate money on the streets to homeless as well. But as you said, lots of them use it for drugs so it's really a double edge sword.
