Softmaxing in general is not cope, there are many cope methods, I can't judge fully but in general softmaxing is not cope and can ascend you almost by a point in some cases. Best softmax ever is leanmaxing especially if you're obese like I was, losing 80 lbs to 10% bodyfat ascended me the most out of anything ever
